Anthony Jones Artist

I was teaching scuba diving in San Diego and I wanted to document what I was seeing underwater. Through diving I was able to dive with some of the best underwater photographers at the time. I eventualy bought a regular camera and started taking photos. I started working in a portrait studio so I can learn more about photography. Several years later, I decided I had enough of portrait and wedding photography. I wanted to create artwork that showed the world what I loved to explore, so I started taking nature and wildlife photos. My artwork has evolved over the years as I developed my style. I have explored different ways to get back to my artistic roots. I have been playing with creating digital paintings of my photographs, a technique that I call "Paintography".

I hope you enjoy my artwork as I strive to continually present the world the way I see it.

Thank you,

Anthony Jones

My Approach

Patience in the Field

My work is a testament to patience, an unwavering commitment to pure, unfiltered natural light. I document subjects as they are, without artificial staging or intrusive intervention. The integrity of the moment is paramount, reflecting the true scale and raw beauty of the open terrain.

Each frame is the culmination of extensive fieldwork, often in remote and challenging environments. This dedication ensures every image tells an authentic story, preserving the spirit of the wild and the quiet dignity of cultural studies.
